STUDI KUANTITATIF PENGARUH KEBISINGAN PESAWAT TERHADAP KENYAMANAN LINGKUNGAN PERMUKIMAN SEKITAR BANDARA SULTAN ISKANDAR MUDA

Abstract

Increased flight activity at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport (SIM) has raised environmental concerns, particularly regarding noise exposure for communities living in nearby areas. This study aims to analyze the noise levels caused by flight activity at SIM Airport and its impact on the quality of life of communities living in nearby settlements. Measurements were taken in three nearby villages, namely Lam Raya, Lamseunong, and Ujong Blang, using a Sound Level Meter (SLM). To obtain the Equivalent Continuous Noise Level (LAeq) value. In addition, community perceptions were assessed through a questionnaire given to 90 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique to assess the level of comfort and disturbance experienced. The results of the technical noise measurements showed that the average LAeq value at the three locations ranged from 53.1 to 56.5 dB. This figure is still within the safe range of noise quality standards for residential areas set by the government, which is 55–60 dBA, depending on stricter local regulations. Specifically, the WECPNL analysis results also show that the three villages are below Category I (WECPNL <70). This indicates that the total noise calculated based on flight frequency has not yet been classified as having a significant impact on environmental comfort according to aviation standards. Analysis of public perception shows that although 40% of respondents agree that aircraft activity is the main source of noise, the majority (50%) still consider their living environment to be comfortable. These results indicate that noise levels around Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport are still within safe limits and do not seriously affect residents' quality of life.
